Hello everyone!

I can’t believe I’m saying this…but we are already mid-way through the first quarter of the new year! Time is moving so quickly! This week here in the US, we had Valentine’s Day, a day set aside to celebrate those you love and your relationships. One of the things I have been talking a lot about lately is leading with LOVE…which isn’t something I learned about in school. This is something I experience from some very important people in my life and found that as I refined my skills remembering this makes a difference in how I run our company.

You can listen to my personal story by clicking on the video below. It’s about how I learned to be BOLD from my mother, and to dream big. You have to believe in yourself and learn and experiment as you grow. You need to share who you are…be REAL. Be authentic with people and give feedback that’s real and actionable. It’s sometimes easy to pretend to be someone else to blend in, but it’s important to be true to yourself.

The most important message though, is explained best by John C. Maxwell, who said, “Needless to say, you can love people without leading them, but you cannot lead people without LOVING them.” I lead from the heart, being empathetic and from a place of genuinely caring for each and every person on our team. As we build our culture, I see these values reflected back by what the team wants as part of our company.

I had the honor of telling my story last fall during the 2021 Keep Austin Agile Conference. Check out the video below to see my message from the conference.

Be Bold, Be Real, and Lead with Love-low (1)

We aren’t perfect, but I believe our team and culture are stronger because we pause and put people first - we care about each other, our customers and the impact we have on the world. If that’s not leading with LOVE, I don’t know what is!

How are you developing talent?

We all want to be good at what we do. Whether it be as part of a team, leading a team, or guiding a team. But what does "good" look like? And how do we know when we get there? This is something we all have to to figure out, but we don't need to do it alone. There is power in working together to really understand how to develop talent within an organization, and it starts with making the time to understand the role itself.

As we shift to the Digital and Agile ways of working, many organizations are facing talent gaps. There is a need to accelerate the ability to scale both developing new roles and re-skilling new team members on new practices to meet the demands of both internal and external customers. It's important to ensure you are building a holistic program that not only teaches role specifics, but also gives the learner the opportunity to practice and get feedback along the way, so that they can truly develop their skills. When you combine education, skill assessment, ongoing learning, and mentoring (both one-on-one and through communities of practices), you can effectively enable people to learn new skills.

We have launched our new Talent Development, role-based learning videos. We have learning plans ranging from 9-weeks to 12-weeks covering the following roles:

  • Product Owner
  • Scrum Master
  • Solution Lead
  • Team Member
  • Agile Manager
  • Senior Leader

These learning plans are included when you purchase a Full Library from AgileVideos.com. We'd love to hear your thoughts on these role-based learning plans!
